Comets Advance to Women's Football Alliance National Championship Game

Columbus, OH -- Playoff round three on Saturday, July 17 held at the Columbus Comets home field was a game between two undefeated teams. The winner of the contest would be the Women's Football Alliance (WFA) National Conference Champion and move to the National Championship Game on July 31, in Las Vegas.

Pack your bags Comet fans as the final score was 21-14 with the Comets defeating WFA 2009 National Champion the St. Louis Slam. With the victory the Comets will take on the American Conference Champion.

The Comets began the game with early scores, strong offensive play and a solid defensive effort. "This was a great game between two undefeated teams and I am proud of our team for coming out on top," said Head Coach Hank Patterson. "Our three units came ready to play and we had hard play and great effort by the players," he continued. "Our focus will be to get ready to go to Las Vegas, work hard in practice to prepare and bring the National Championship back to Columbus."

The Comets practice on upcoming Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7:00 p.m. at the Huffaker Sports Complex. With this latest win the Comets are on a ten game winning streak of both regular and post season play.
