Comets Game Focus Continues in Defeating Kentucky
Columbus, OH -- The Columbus Comets began the sixth game of the series undefeated and ended the game the same way in Saturday afternoon game against the Kentucky Karma. The Comets record now stands at 6-0 for the 2010 season. The final score was 66-0 and continues the Comets as being on of a handful of Women?s Football Alliance league teams who remain undefeated in 2010.
The Comets football team had a return to offensive glory in the game. The Comets took command of the game early and in a balanced offense continued to put up yards by the air and through rushing. "We drove the ball well in the first half, and continued the momentum in the second half," Head Coach Hank Patterson said. "Even though we were up at halftime, the coaches talked to the team about errors and working on little things for improvement. We cleaned things up in the second half and executed in an improved fashion. We are not there yet but working hard towards getting a great four quarters of football,? he continued.
The Comets travel the remainder of the regular season. This coming weekend (June 12) the team travels to Dayton for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off against the Dayton Diamonds. The last regular season game will also be on the road, June 19, against the Toledo Reign. ?We are working towards ending the season 8-0 and putting us in a good position for the playoffs.
The Comets will be in the playoffs starting on June 26. "We cannot look that far ahead", said Patterson as ?we have two more good teams to face in the next weeks." "Our focus continues to be practicing well and improving each week."
