Comets Move to 2-0

Columbus, OH -- The Columbus Comets playing in front of a large opening crowd defeated the Dayton Diamonds on Saturday, April 24, 2010. The Comets remain undefeated with a 2-0 record. The final score was 43-0 with the game played in rainy and windy conditions.
- The Comets have not allowed either 2010 opponent a score.
- The Comets are on a 10 game regular season winning streak.
- Head Coach Hank Patterson moves his Comets coaching record to 46-17.
- This was the first meeting between the two teams. They will meet again June 12 in Dayton.
- Quarterback Crystal Davis led the team in a balanced attack.
- Contributors to the rushing totals include these players: Ayesha (Skirt) Jones averaged 11.5 yards per carry with four rushes for 46 yards. She also scored two touchdowns. Breanne Martin rushed eight times for 82 yards and one touchdown. Fullback Jaymi Duke added 6 rushes and had two touchdowns.
- Dietra Sherwin had 3 receptions for a total of 36 yards and she also scored twice on two point conversion attempts.
- Leading the defense was Cristie Sabatucci with 10 tackles one for a loss. Star Allen with seven tackles and one fumble caused. Laura Stephens had six tackles with two tackles for loss and one fumble recovery. Dietra Sherwin had five tackles, two tackles for loss and had two fumble recoveries.
- Kicker Emily Schnittger had an average of 35.6 yards per kickoff. She had total kick-off yards of 173 yards on five kicks.
