Comets vs. Pittsburgh Force Game Notes

Columbus, OH -- The 2010 Columbus Comets football team is 1-0 after beginning the season with a lopsided victory against the Pittsburgh Force. The April 17 opening game held at the Force's home field ended with the score being 68-0. Columbus Comets post-game notes for April 17:

  • The Comets have a two year streak of winning the opening games with the 2010 victory.
  • The Comets continue in the regular season where the team ended in 2009. Currently the team is on a nine game winning streak.
  • Head Coach Hank Patterson moves his Comets coaching record to 45-17.
  • The Comets hold the edge in the series with the Pittsburgh Force. The Comets have won all three games against the Force.
  • Quarterback Crystal Davis passed for 105 yards and one touchdown. She was 5 for 8. Erika Englund had 3 catches for 72 yards.
  • Four players contributed to the rushing totals. Breanne Martin rushed for 102 yards and one touchdown on 15 carries. Stephanie Stevens rushed for 96 yards on 11 carries and contributed two touchdowns. Fullback Jaymie Duke carried the ball nine times for 91 yards and two touchdowns. Ayehsa "Skirt" Jones had three carries for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Jones also had one reception for 32 yards that went for a touchdown.
  • Total rushing stats for the game were 40 attempts for 383 yards and eight touchdowns.
  • Due to the absence of our FG/XP kicker, there were no PAT attempts in the game.
  • Emily Schnittger did an outstanding job as our kicker for the Kickoff team.
  • The upcoming game on April 24 against the Dayton Diamonds will be the initial meeting between the two teams. In 2010 they will meet in a home/home series.
  • The Comets open at home Saturday, April 24 against the Dayton Diamonds. The kickoff is at 7:05 p.m.
