Comets Medical Team Returns for 2010 Schedule

Columbus, OH -- The medical staff for the Columbus Comets is in place and ready to begin the 2010 season. Returning to assist the team are team physician Dr. Robert Turner and athletic trainer Julie Hall, A.T.C. Providing Chiropractic services is Dr. Dean Haldeman. "Without the care of these individuals the Comets players would face some significant injuries without compassionate care and individualized treatment", said team owner Hank Patterson. He continued by stating, "We are indebted to them and appreciate their service."

Following are brief biographies:

Team Physician: Dr. Robert Turner
Returning for his third season as team physician is Dr. Robert Turner. Dr. Robert Turner is a general orthopedist with a special interest in total joint replacement, sports medicine, arthroscopy, and pediatric orthopedics. He has been in practice in Columbus for 27 years, and a member of The Cardinal Orthopedic Institute since inception.

He is a Clinical Assistant Instructor in the Department of Orthopedics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine and Public Health. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the Ohio State Medical Association, the Columbus Orthopedic Society (past president), the Ohio Orthopedic Society, and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Turner has been a high school team physician for 20-plus years and was a recipient of the Ohio Outstanding Team Physician award. Dr. Turner has an office at 3777 Trueman Court Hilliard, OH 43026.

Team Trainer: Julie Hall, A.T.C.
Julie Hall returns for her second year as an athletic trainer for the Columbus Comets. The Ohio State University employs her as an Outreach Athletic Trainer. In this capacity, she has worked since 2006 for various schools in the Columbus City School District. Recently she has been the Athletic Trainer for Marion-Franklin and Eastmoor Academy High Schools, responsible for the care of all of the athletes in these schools.

Additionally, she works as an athletic trainer for the Tournament of Champions wrestling event at the Columbus Convention Center as well as soccer tournaments, track and field events, the Columbus Classic Rugby Tournament and football all-star games. Julie has been an Athletic Trainer since 2000. She has worked at the high school level as well as for the Chillicothe Paints of the Frontier Baseball League, where she was named Athletic Trainer of the Year in 2001. Further, she assists with athletic training coverage for the Mid-Ohio Jets (men?s minor league football team).

Julie is also a Licensed Massage Therapist and a member of Ohio Sports Massage. Julie received the 2008 Outstanding Sports Massage Achiever for the Ohio Sports Massage. Her clinical interests include acute care of the injured athlete and how to improve medical care for adolescent athletes.

The Comets open the 2010 season on the road April 17 against the Pittsburgh Force.
